URGENT APPEAL: Xiem Clay Center requests support for Potters in Mashiko, Japan.
Mashiko, a famous pottery town in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan was badly damaged during the recent earthquake.
Mashiko pottery studios are generally individual or family owned and for many, losing kilns and production facilities
is a major setback. Xiem studio members and friends have donated special ceramic works to be sold at our upcoming Xiem Ceramic Art Fair and Studio
Sale to raise funds for the Mashiko Potters Fund. 100% of funds raised
will be dedicated to helping the potters of Mashiko rebuild
and re-establish their kilns and workshops. Thank you in advance for your support!

visits to related cultural sites and ceramic collections and some free time for personal exploration in Kyoto and Tokyo. Mediated by Japanese-born tour leader J
unzo Mori’s understanding of the American ceramics scene and local Japanese guide, wood-carver Yo Takimoto’s extensive knowledge of craft and Japan, nothing will
